Sergi Barnils

The artist was born on 1954 in Bata, the capital city of Equatorial Guinea. He now lives and works in Sant Cugat, near Barcelona.
In his geometric signs overflowing into use of colour, the keys to his painting – and doubtlessly also to his more recent sculptures – Barnils condenses his most intimate reflections on the human condition in his images, however abstract or packed with primordial graffiti they may appear to be: his works and above all his joyously festive colours give off an intense sentiment of celebration of the beauty of life, in all its forms and transitions.

The initiative

Cuvage des Artistes is a project that combines a signature wine, like Cuvage, with art and charity. The artworks have been made by Catalan artist Sergi Barnils. Cuvage has acquired the artworks from the contemporary art gallery Marcorossi Arte Contemporanea, and made two special labels for the bottles of Metodo Classico Cuvage de Cuvage and Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Brut Rosé. There are 3000 limited edition bottles to help Telethon in contributing towards medical research for Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) better known as the glass bone disease.

COLLEZIONE TELETHON

Collezione Telethon has decided to finance the three-year research project of Dr. Antonella Forlino of the University of Pavia. This project is dedicated to Osteogenesi Imperfecta (OI), a genetic disorder characterized by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause, affecting about one out of every 10000 people.
